In today’s ever changing office environment the people we rely on are our Administrative Professionals and support staff. The HSF Administrative Professionals Event provides opportunities to network, share ideas, problems and solutions with other professionals, and return to your job with renewed enthusiasm.

We will start our day together, with a Keynote Experience with Pam Victor – Founder of The THROUGH LAUGHTER program and Head of Happiness (aka President) of Happier Valley Comedy. Pam will wake us up and start us off with a morning experience grounded in laughter and insight!

Keynote – THANK YOU, CALVIN. NOW SHUT UP: Quieting the Voice of Unhelpful Judgement

In the THROUGH LAUGHTER program, “Calvin” is the name we use for the Evil Mind Meanie, which is the internal voice of unhelpful judgment. Calvin – or whatever name you call your internal voice – is constantly in our heads telling us that we’re doing it wrong…or you’re doing it wrong…or they’re all doing it wrong…and a whole pu pu platter full of other negative messages that get in our way and keep us from progressing joyfully and “easefully” in our work and personal lives. In this keynote experience, we’re going to practice identifying Calvin’s voice, thanking it for trying to protect us, and then telling Calvin to please shut up. Because the most important thing to remember is this: Calvin is a liar, liar pants on fire liar 100% of the time.

In addition to the keynote, participants choose ONE of four workshops.

WORKSHOP #1
TEAM has literally transpired into a buzz word – T.E.A.M.: Together Everyone Achieves More

Presenter – Christy Torres, Valley Opportunity Council, and Freelance Consultant

Why should I change? My boss is the problem!” We tend to blame others and defend ourselves.  It is the same for a team.  “What’s in it for me, how do I make the team work more effectively?” This workshop will answer just that. You will enjoy fun team building activities that will help your team gel. This workshop is fun, entertaining, challenging and highly effective. It will cause every participant to begin thinking and talking about team building and teamwork. It will serve as a catalyst for bringing positive energy and lasting change to your organization and your team. Come and Join for successful team building.

WORKSHOP #2 – Workshop is FULL
Building Resilience and Redefining Failure THROUGH LAUGHTER

Presenter – Pam Victor, Happier Valley Comedy

What would it be like to see challenges as opportunities rather than failures? What would it be like to redefine failure as judgment-free “events”? What would it be like to meet these “events” with cheers rather than shame? Weathering mistakes and overcoming setbacks are tricky but absolutely vital skills in your personal and professional lives. In this positive, highly supportive workshop, we’ll be up on our feet having a blast using easy-to-learn, very fun improv-training exercises to help you understand that defining something as a “failure” only sets up roadblocks. Instead, you’ll experience failure as a judgment-free event, releasing you to move forward with more confidence and creativity. Everyone can do this workshop (yes, even you introverts.) Empower yourself by disempowering failure with this powerful workshop!

WORKSHOP #3
Stay in Touch: Mindfulness in the Workplace
Presenter – Bob Cipriano, Professional Trainer

Living in the moment contributes to your mental and physical health through concentration, acceptance, focus, self-awareness, engagement, and satisfaction. Learn nine simple actions that will help you to eliminate distractions and function fully in each moment. The disciplines are simple and fast, a collection of small behaviors, making use of your five senses. They function in the workplace, at home, and everywhere in between.

WORKSHOP #4
E-Workout: Creating an online toolbox that works for you
Presenter – Janine Fondon, UnityFirst

Attend this session and learn about online tools that can help you improve your effectiveness and boost your efficiency at work or in other environments. Let’s take a look at your tech IQ and develop a plan to improve our knowledge of resources online – one click at a time. Remember, this seminar will help you build a toolbox of online resources that become your roadmap to success through learning. We can learn about the tech terms we hear about and also explore useful websites to use to streamline our work. Let’s work out the issues and build our new success. We will have lots of FUN (finding unchartered networks) as we surf the waves. *We recommend bringing your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or other “smart” device so you can follow along online during this workshop!
