HSF June Breakfast, Loneliness, COVID, and Social Connection

June 22 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, loneliness could have been called one of the nation’s most significant public health problems. Now, as we emerge from the worst of the pandemic, we are understanding the true impact of isolation and loneliness  on our communities. But what is loneliness really, and how can we prevent the negative impacts? What ways does connection help, and how can we be part of the solution? Join Dr. Robert Roose, Chief Administrative Officer & Chief Medical Officer, Mercy Medical Center and its affiliates as he discusses the science and hope for the future.

Robert Roose, MD, MPH, FASAM, is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer of Mercy Medical Center and its affiliates in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Roose has been affiliated with Trinity Health’s regional health ministry since 2013, having held the positions of Chief of Addiction Medicine and Recovery Services of Trinity Health Of New England, Vice President of Behavioral Health at Mercy Medical Center and Chief Medical Officer of Addiction and Recovery Services for the Sisters of Providence Health System. During his time with Trinity Health, Dr. Roose has spearheaded the expansion and renovation of opioid treatment programs, developed new partnerships with community providers, opened a clinical stabilization service, and integrated addiction care into inpatient units and emergency departments. His goal has been to help transform care so that people can receive high-quality care – when they need it, where they need it, and how they need it. Dr. Roose earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master in Public Health degrees at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington D.C. and completed his residency training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY.
