Peace Development Fund’s Community Organizing Grant cycle is now open for application until December 29th. Every year, PDF funds grassroots, power-building organizations that are aligned with our four pillars of grantmaking: Organizing to Shift Power; Working to Build a Movement; Dismantling Oppression; and Creating New Structures.

The average grant size is $5,000 and most grants are unrestricted, general operating support. PDF aims to be a “go-to” funder for new and emerging organizations, as well as organizations who do not have access to larger philanthropic resources.

Community Organizing Grants Program

The Community Organizing Grants program contains PDF’s annual grantmaking docket and the De Colores Rapid Response Fund. Any organization that fits PDF’s guidelines is eligible to apply for a grant. PDF currently only funds organizations in the United States, Haiti and Mexico through the Community Organizing Grants docket.

Each year PDF receives hundreds of proposals from grassroots community organizations seeking funding. Through a careful review and interview process, PDF selects those organizations that will have a significant impact in their geographic and social justice focus area, or are working on issues that are not yet recognized by progressive funders.

The Application period for PDF’s 2021-2022 Community Organizing Grants is open until December 29th at 5:00 PM Eastern Time. Applications can only be submitted through our online portal, which is linked here.

Please read our Grant Guidelines to see if your organization is eligible to apply.

If your application is accepted into our final round, we will notify you by the end of February, and supplemental information plus references will be due in early March. Final grant decisions are made by the end of April. The average grant is $5,000.
