SUMMARY:National Gambling Disorder Screening Day
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin Us for this Important Event! \nOn Tuesday\, March 12th from 2:00 – 4:00\, the Northampton Recovery Center\, with the support of the Forbes Public Library will be providing free screening for Gambling Disorder. \nGambling Disorder leads to financial\, emotional\, social\, occupational\, and physical harms\, yet many cases go undetected and untreated. Screening identifies individuals who should seek further assessment for potential gambling-related problems. Although the Division on Addiction supports year-round screening for gambling-related problems\, Screening Day is an annual opportunity to raise awareness of the need for routine screening\, and to help identify gambling- related problems as early as possible. \nIn Massachusetts\, 2% of adults are currently experiencing problems with gambling – estimated between 83\,000 and 135\,000 people! Many cases of Gambling Disorder go undetected and untreated. A national survey found that 49% of individuals with gambling related problems reported receiving treatment for one or more mental health concerns\, including substance use\, but none received treatment for gambling. \nPlease consider joining us at Forbes Library to participate in a brief screening\, learn more about Gambling Disorder\, and connect to support.* \n*The 1st 25 people to participate in a screening will receive a $5 Dunkin’ Gift card.

SUMMARY:May 2024 Breakfast- Strategic Planning Needs a Redo
DESCRIPTION:Many people dread the strategic planning process for good reasons. Strategic plans are intended to help organizations improve\, and yet we use very little of what we know about change management and sustainable improvement in the strategic planning process. This results in a less engaging\, more time-consuming\, and less effective process. It doesn’t have to be this way. \nThis session will introduce participants to a more inclusive approach to starting their strategic planning. Jeff Wetherhold is a change management expert who has helped hundreds of teams make and sustain changes to improve client outcomes. Jeff will discuss how the strategic planning process changes when we approach it with a mindset of change management and improvement\, and he will share practical ways to improve existing strategic plans that he finds most organizations ignore. \n \nAbout the Presenter: \n \nJeff Wetherhold\, M.Ed.\, advises mission-driven organizations who need to see change. He is a trainer and coach with 15+ years of experience supporting hundreds of teams in making and sustaining changes to improve client outcomes. Jeff’s work focuses on the disciplines of strategic planning\, motivational interviewing\, and process improvement. \nJeff is a firm believer that it is not enough to walk clients through a change process. They deserve to learn from it\, and to build skills that they can continue to use throughout their careers. \nJeff has supported a broad range of change initiatives in the health care\, education\, community services\, and private sectors over the course of his career.  As the Co-founder and Principal at Ohia Advisors\, Jeff partners with organizations seeking to advance the health and well-being of their staff\, clients\, and communities through process improvement and strategic planning. This includes clients with national\, regional\, and local scopes of service. \nMost recently\, Jeff has founded MI for Health to provide accessible and skills-focused training and coaching in applying Motivational Interviewing to improve conversations about change with patients\, clients\, and staff. \nJeff is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and a faculty member with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement\, where he supports health care facilities in adopting evidence-based safety practices using improvement methods. He is based on Boston\, Massachusetts. \nHSF Annual Sponsors: \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nHSF Breakfast Sponsors: \n \n \n  \n \n  \n  \n
