SUMMARY:Stop It! Caregiver Behaviors That Impede Progress
DESCRIPTION:Parents and caregivers!\nHow many of us are doing things for our children or loved ones\nwith disabilities that we really shouldn’t continue to do? Things\nthat could easily become barriers to independent living models.\nThings that may even make our person more vulnerable than\nnecessary. \nThere’s no doubt that we do these things out of love\, maybe\nsprinkled with a little bit of guilt and a whole lot of just plain\nsurvival…but regardless\, our overcompensation and natural\ninstincts to protect for a lifetime are counterproductive. \nHelping our loved one reach their highest level of independence\nand autonomy they can reach takes courage\, vulnerability\, and\nplanning on our part\, and yet\, preparing those we love for life\nwithout us is the final and most important gift we can give them.\nEmail Meg at megan.moran@servicenet.org for more information\nabout the this webinar. We hope you can join us!

SUMMARY:Barriers to Bridges: Clean Slate Laws & Public Health
DESCRIPTION:Barriers to Bridges: Clean Slate Laws & Public Health\n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time\nApr 10\, 2025 12:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)\n\n\nDescription\nApril is Second Chance Month and April 7-13\, 2025\, is National Public Health Week\, the perfect time to explore how “clean slate” laws promote health\, economic stability\, and racial equity. Criminal records create lasting barriers to employment\, housing\, and healthcare—key social determinants of health. A Clean Slate law\, which automates record sealing as soon as someone is eligible\, is a powerful tool for reducing inequities and strengthening communities. Join us for a 60-minute webinar where we’ll discuss: A. How criminal offender record information (CORIs) impacts health and well-being; B. Why so few people who are eligible have sealed records; C. The status of clean slate legislation in Massachusetts; D. Why more and more employers support clean slate laws; and E. How you can take action to support these reforms.\n\n—— NOTE: We are committed to providing interpretation\, translation\, and other accommodations to make our events as accessible as possible. Please submit requests by April 1\, 2025\, to KWaldner@PublicHealthWM.org or 413-794-2897. We will do our best to fulfill any requests we receive.
