DESCRIPTION:The Springfield-Hampden County Continuum of Care is pleased to offer: \nHousing First Training\nJune 12 and 13\n9 am – 4 pm each day\nCarriage House at the Barney – in Forest Park\n200 Trafton Rd.\, Springfield\, MA\nMorning refreshments and lunch provided\nRegister here: https://forms.gle/xUzd6wWwTs5F4GLt9 \nThis training\, conducted by trainers from the Corporation for Supportive Housing\, is designed to support programs currently or planning to operate housing programs that will serve people exiting homelessness and will operate using a Housing First low-threshold model. \nTraining participants will gain: \n\na foundational understanding of housing first concepts;\nstrategies to build relationships with tenants and property managers;\nan outline to guide development of a project-specific tenant guide to give to your program participants;\na Learner’s Guide for trainees to take away that reinforces the information shared and provides additional resources;\nand connection to a peer network for support after the training ends.\n\nTopics will also include differentiating between the roles of property management and case management\, what Housing First looks like in practice\, development of emergency procedures and incident reporting\, how to address common challenges (using case studies)\, and eviction prevention. \nThe training is appropriate for directors\, managers\, and program staff. There is no limit to the number of participants from a single agency.

In order to receive CEs\, you must attend both days \nThis seminar is designed to help clinicians identify how early childhood attachment experiences and/or failures are directly connected to the development of one’s beliefs\, values\, motivation and assumptions about the self in the world and self in relationship to others. Regardless of one’s therapeutic orientation or level of experience\, conceptualizing how parts of the person connect or do not connect to form an integrated\, cohered self is an acquired skill that deepens and improves over time. \nParticipants will review techniques including moment-to-moment tracking\, forecasting\, mirroring and listening to the subtle nuance of language to help uncover hidden feelings that lie beneath the surface of the therapeutic exchange. Through tracking these process dynamics\, participants will be shown how to stay aligned with the client’s experience in the present\, thus creating a more secure therapeutic holding environment. \nThe structure of this course will be a combination of lecture\, group discussion\, pre-recorded videotaped session vignettes as well as practicing techniques of “what to say next”. Through these examples\, participants will be shown how minor disappointments can trigger feelings of shame\, micro-dissociative ruptures and possible negative transferential responses on the part of our clients. We will discuss and practice how to catch and repair minor ruptures that occur throughout the treatment process\, thus preserving and strengthening the therapeutic relationship.

Therefore as mental health professionals\, we must be equipped to provide social justice-oriented care to our returning citizens that addresses the key factors that contribute to recidivism. \nThis two part series will educate and empower mental health professionals on how to successfully serve the formerly incarcerated community through a social justice lens. The series is facilitated by James Cavitt\, M.S.W.\, and Kristopher McLucas\, LCSW\, MPH who have extensive experience working with the reentry population in the greater Los Angeles community. This training series will incorporate perspectives from professional experience\, research\, theory and lived experience to highlight the best practices to successfully work with the reentry community. It is designed for mental health professionals\, program administrators and advocates that want to increase their capacity to better serve the reentry community.

DESCRIPTION:Many people dread the strategic planning process for good reasons. Strategic plans are intended to help organizations improve\, and yet we use very little of what we know about change management and sustainable improvement in the strategic planning process. This results in a less engaging\, more time-consuming\, and less effective process. It doesn’t have to be this way. \nThis session will introduce participants to a more inclusive approach to starting their strategic planning. Jeff Wetherhold is a change management expert who has helped hundreds of teams make and sustain changes to improve client outcomes. Jeff will discuss how the strategic planning process changes when we approach it with a mindset of change management and improvement\, and he will share practical ways to improve existing strategic plans that he finds most organizations ignore. \n \nAbout the Presenter: \n \nJeff Wetherhold\, M.Ed.\, advises mission-driven organizations who need to see change. He is a trainer and coach with 15+ years of experience supporting hundreds of teams in making and sustaining changes to improve client outcomes. Jeff’s work focuses on the disciplines of strategic planning\, motivational interviewing\, and process improvement. \nJeff is a firm believer that it is not enough to walk clients through a change process.
